Dictating my blog

For all those who think I have disappeared, I really haven’t. But arthritis in my hands have kept me from doing it … Well, to be honest, I was saving them for sewing and my hobbies. But I discovered Dragon Dictate for Mac. And my world has changed. I bought the box thinking I had to use the microphone that came with it

Dragon Dictate Box

What a life-saver

in order for it to hear and understand me. BUT … After really short training session, my dragon (named Charlie) learned my own voice, and after googling for hints and tips I discovered I could use my iPhone with the remote microphone. I also looked at the YouTube video to see that it really was easy, and way better than the Dictation that comes on my MacBook Pro.

I don’t know if they have an Android one, but they do have it for PC too.

I got mine at Amazon for amazingly better price, which got even better after I had bought it. Oh well.

I can dictate my thoughts (which I have to admit, sometimes ramble.) It has a huge vocabulary and even, mostly gets all the names in my contact list right). I have a friend whose last name is Rinke … It puts in a ;-) winky instead. Hahah. I haven’t told her.

  • Dont get frustrated.
This program does so much that it’s easy to get overwhelmed. I had to realize just why I wanted it and concentrate on learning the tips that have to do with that.
  • READ THE MANUAL – really. There is a lot there, and it’s easy to miss things. I did. Particularly the next tip.
  • LEARN HOW TO USE THE ONLINE windows and keep them open … Like available commands. You don’t have to memorize everything, just know where to get it.

It took a while for my sweet husband to see if I was dictating, and some of my initial work was removing conversations. He now knows my “dictation” voice, although with the training, you just talk naturally.

So now I should be able to blog more. This has made my life so much easier.

And yes, I dictated this, with a little keyboarding. Sometimes easier than editing with DICTATE.

If you have any hand problems but still want to Facebook, or e-mail or blog … Dragon is the way to go. I wonder if they’ll give me a referral fee LOL?

Don’t tell God how big your problems are, tell your problems how big your God is.

  1. I’ve seen this product on tv and wondered if it really worked. Thanks for the endorsement. Have you checked to see if they have an affiliate program? My real reason for my comment is because I loved the quote at the end. I need to start talking to my problems about my God! Thanks for the reminder.

  2. Good for you! And it’s SO wonderful to see you back on WordPress! :)

  3. It’s so good to see you back here! Sorry to hear that your arthritis has been bothering you, but I’m glad you found a product to help with your blogging! I have a writer friend with fibromyalgia who has been using Dragon’s ‘Naturally Speaking’ for years. It’s been a lifesaver for her, because she has an imagination (and muse) who just won’t let her be! lol

Again, it’s great to see you again! :)
