Does our tape leave sticky residue?

I am passing on these great tips for using Painter’s Tape from Eileen’s Machine Embroidery Blog . I have used painter’s tape for so many things but had never thought of using it to make embroidery easier.

Machine Embroidery using Painter's tape

I would have thought it would leave a sticky residue but it doesn’t. (I wouldn’t leave it on a long time, though.)

I was trying to get some photographs off the black pages of my Mom’s old photo album. They had been scotch taped on many years before. Although the tape came off, there was left a brown mess on each picture where the sticky residue had been. I know that whoever put it on had no idea that would happen.

And though we can leave tape on for a short time,  the longer we leave it on, the worse it becomes.

Sometimes our own actions, seemingly good, leave unintended consequences … our own sticky residue. Sometimes it’s offering our good advice … which is rejected or worse, back-fires. Or even a comment taken wrong. Our pride, forgetting how important someone else is, and on and on. Sometimes we can see we have left sticky residue. And sometimes the sticky residue is from someone who has left in our own lives.

It might lead to hurt feelings, broken promises, lost friendships, fractured family relationships. Sometimes they/we don’t even know we have left sticky residue  but just know something isn’t right.

If I feel that a relationship is strained, but not sure why, I used to just feel helpless. But since I live with the power of Jesus in my heart,  I like to go to see what God has to say. Often He leads me right to the way to restore peace in my life and relationships.

Psalm 139:23-24

New International Version (NIV)

23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.

Often he spurs me on to go to someone else to ask forgiveness for my sticky residue (ok, I’ve never actually used those words)  … or even harder, to forgive someone else for theirs.

Think about the sticky residue in our lives. Prayerfully ask God to help us with His “Undo” or “Goo Gone” … He’s given us all the tools we need right there in the Bible.

“If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.”

- Psalm 130:3-4 (NIV)

I am so grateful that Jesus is in my life.  This prayer was in my Heartlight devotional this morning …

Prayer: Dear Father, I do believe that Jesus is your dear Son, sent to be my Savior, crucified for my sins, and raised from the dead for my victory. I trust my salvation to him and thank you for your incredible gift of grace. In the name of Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.

Jesus is living in my life now, guiding me every day. Please go to my link to see how I got there. God Loves The World – see how.
